Bowen Therapy
Supporting your body’s natural ability to heal
Bowen Therapy is a gentle, hands-on treatment that works with your body’s natural ability to heal and restore balance.
Rather than using force or manipulation, Bowen Therapy uses a series of small, precise rolling movements over specific areas of the body—targeting muscles and fascia. These subtle movements stimulate the nervous system and encourage the body to reset and rebalance itself.
A unique feature of Bowen Therapy is the incorporation of short pauses between sets of moves, typically lasting 2–5 minutes. These rest periods are an essential part of the treatment, allowing your body time to process the signals it has received and respond in its own way and its own time.
This approach helps shift the body out of a stressed, “fight or flight” (sympathetic) state into a more relaxed, “rest and digest” (parasympathetic) state—where healing, repair, and recovery can occur more effectively.
Because Bowen Therapy works holistically, it doesn’t just address the area of discomfort—it supports the body as a whole.
What is Bowen Therapy?
Who can benefit from Bowen Therapy?
Bowen Therapy is suitable for people of all ages, from children through to older adults. It may be helpful for those experiencing muscle tension, stress, anxiety, postural imbalances, or general aches and pains.
It can also support people navigating hormonal imbalances, as well as those dealing with sleep difficulties, digestive or respiratory issues, fatigue, recovery from physical strain or injury, and those simply wanting to improve overall wellbeing and nervous system balance. Because it is gentle and non-invasive, it’s often well tolerated even by those who are sensitive to other forms of bodywork.
